This involves proofreading an AI-generated translation—that is, comparing it to the original text to check for errors. There are two types of post-editing.
With light post-editing, the AI translation is simply checked to ensure that the content matches the original. If you want to be certain that the original text actually says what the AI claims it does, this is the most cost-effective option for you, as the task is completed quickly and saves both time and money. If you’re interested in this service, please send me only your original text, as even AI translation tools vary in the quality of their translations, and evaluating high-quality AI-generated translations is part of my job. Important: Stylistic and grammatical irregularities will remain in the light post-editing process.
If the style and flawless grammar of the translation are important to you, opt for full post-editing. In addition to content corrections, this service also corrects grammatical and stylistic errors. The result is similar to a human translation. It is your best choice if you need a translation that is factually accurate and linguistically acceptable, and if cost is a higher priority than linguistic perfection.
For the most demanding requirements, it’s still worth commissioning a professional human translation, because despite immense advances, AI is not yet capable of producing text that sounds stylistically natural. Furthermore, not all texts are suitable for post-editing: sensitive data, risks to living beings in the event of an incorrect translation, and similar issues are reasons why AI should not be used.
